2010: A New Year with New Resolutions
  1. Achieve a higher CAP than what I have now. You can call me greedy, but who doesn't want that? Of course, I will work towards it and not expect it to drop from the sky.
  2. Less problems at home; I only ask for a happy & healthy family.
  3. Maintain old friendships as far as possible and embrace new ones. I will try my best, I promise.
Vacation has been good so far. Caught up with old friends. TMS friends, 0707, debate comm, army friends. Made new ones as well, those who went with me to Cebu.
Started off 2010 with 07 gathering and farewell for Jin Z
hi.

What awaits me in 2010:
  1. 6 modules this coming semester (one more than last semester)
  2. ISE Camp Planning
  3. ISE Club Activities
  4. Volunteering @ SCS
  5. S-SUE with Scholars
I wonder how 2010 will end.
I want to create a nice ending.

2009: An Eventful Year
Started off 2009 with BMT, Ninja Compan
y Platoon 2. Tough training it was; and I emerged with many lessons learnt.
Posted to Signals Institute after BMT, where I met Mr Lincoln Tee, who has the same birthday as me and eventually became
my bed buddy! It is here that I met two people who are also my closest army buddies, Ziyang and Hong Ming. And thank you Jonathan Lee Han Liang for talking to me when I'm bored during Admin Time!
After Signals course, posted to 8 Signal Battalion. Made new friends again, particularly my 7 UIP mates and Mr Alex
Dominic Wong. =)
Disrupted my NS and started my scholarship journey. The month of July was when I got to know Silver, 11 enthusiastic scholars who went through thick and thin with me (though for just 3 days) in Outward Bound School and throughout July during Pre Departure Course. I don't know how to describe you all except by using the word "awesome", especially Ms Teng Jin Zhi! =D Before I knew it, you people flew off for your studies. The airport scenes were sad, but at least we had one month plus of nice memories.

Engin OWeek with OG Paris was next. Had lotsa fun during OWeek and the subsequent random meal & mugging sessions throughout the semester, especially with Liang Hung and Elle. =P
And so, it was back to school @ Engin. I must especially thank Ivan, Cei, Alicia, Hui Ru and Lenora for making my school life complete. Will not forget how we complain about module bidding, talked & laughed about random stuff, missed Maths lecture together (oops) and helped each other in schoolwork.
Glad I joined ISE Club Comm: Seniors are really nice and they gave me advice that went a long way in helping me settle into Engin and ISE.
Then came Cebu Youth Exchange trip with 15 passionate Rotaractors and the Rotarians. It was my first community service trip, which explains why it was such an eye-opener. I will never forget the brilliant smiles on the children's faces when we visited the SOS Children's Village and how they repeatedly told us to "visit them again" when we left the place. How sad it was when we had to leave. =(
The last 2 days of sightseeing in Cebu and Bohol were great, especially the night when we saw at least 10 shooting stars (and made corresponding number of wishes). Maybe my wishes were heard and that's how I managed to get slightly >4 for my CAP for my Semester 1 results.
And not forgetting the friendships that have come a long way...

Thanks Jeffy for the chocolates and card; cheers to 5 years of friendship!
Sec 2 classmates Daniel, WeiChao, Theo and Charlene. That's 7 years of friendship. (I just realized how long that is)
And of course 0707, always spontaneous and enthusiastic in meeting up. I enjoyed the BBQ, xiaolongbao buffet and random gatherings!
Debate Comm 0708, loyal readers of my blog.
And lastly, all other old friends who still keep in contact with me.
I hope I didn't miss out anyone.
Do I deserve all this?
Cos I don't think I do.

My University Life
Been blog-hopping and reading about other ppl's uni life amidst mugging for my last paper. Read about how stressful some people are, and how some are just having loads of fun. So I'm here to talk about my university life.
I started off university life with lots of expectations and hopes. To make many new friends, to enjoy the slackness of my timetable, to join many activities and have fun, and to gain more knowledge as I transit into adulthood.
Well, I DID make a lot of new friends. But whether they can be true friends who can walk with me in this journey of life, I really don't know.
Well, I AM enjoying the slackness of my timetable, but that also means there is no more spoonfeeding and I will have to be disciplined and spend more time on independent learning.
Well, I DID join quite a number of activities, and I do enjoy them! But I'm starting to feel really tired from them all because on top of these, I've got my studies and personal life to manage as well.
And yes, I DID gain more knowledge, too much I guess. There's just too much information flowing in during the semester! There's too many topics to study that we simply have no time to appreciate the modules/subjects we are taking. In desperate times, we become too preoccupied with just scoring for the exams.
However as time passed, I told myself that I should not take things for granted and that I should not have high expectations of my so-called ideal Uni life. I have more freedom, a nice hostel, nice friends, an opportunity to study, what more can I ask?
An important lesson I learnt in 2009 is that I should not expect or predict anything in my life from now onwards. At Sec 4 graduation, I expect myself to be in JC for the next 2 years. After A levels, I know I've got NS to do.
But year 2009 is different. I entered army not even knowing I'll be out in 7 months. Suddenly I realized it's time to enter Uni and I embarked on my Uni journey with a sense of mental unpreparedness mixed with passionate anticipation. Along the way, many of my plans and choices changed...And all of a sudden this is where I am, at the end of semester 1 of my undergrad degree.
But I am thankful. Thankful to my schoolmates for helping me and adding to my fun and laughter in school. Thankful to my family. Thankful to technology that allows me to keep in touch with my social circle.
With that, I am a happy boy :P

Post Exam!
Cebu trip.
Long-overdue meet-up with Army buddies.
Catch-up with friends.
Finish watching Moonlight Resonance & some movies.
Enjoy the feeling of stoning & slacking.

Excited! (Especially the last point above)
But for now, back to my lecture notes...

Thu 221009: Dinner with Seniors

Senior Scholars Marvin, Alvin & Genim treated Cheryl, Jeremy and me to a nice dinner @ Sun Asian Bistro opposite Yusof Ishak House. I'm really thankful that they take their time off to talk to us and ensure we're settling in fine!

Mon 261009: Catch-up Session

Watched 500 Days of Summer with Ivan, Alicia & Siew Min. I miss the times 0707 watched movies together!

International Service Project: Donut Sales & Dance

Since we are going to Cebu, Philippines, our leader Ken Sing decided to call us Cebu warriors. We Cebu Warriors managed to sell 1740 donuts and raised >1k for this trip. Tiring, cos we had to deliver them to different places within NUS. But fulfilling, after seeing the week's hard work bear fruit.

And the Cebu Warriors decided to learn to dance 'NOBODY' by Wonder Girls so that we can perform for the people over in Cebu. The dance is fun to watch but difficult to learn=X

Exams!

Exams are coming in 2 to 3 weeks' time and I haven't started studying, cos every week is just spent catching up with new tutorials=X They are never-ending!

Post-Exam
Can't wait for exams to be over, cos I'll be flying to the Philippines. Bye bye Singapore for 9 days!

Been quite busy recently.
Overseas CIP
Selling donuts from Donut Factory to raise funds for overseas CIP: pre-orders keep coming in every day, and I am learning to be an decent businessman by keeping track of orders carefully and promoting the donuts to my friends.
This fund raising allowed me to have a taste of the hectic life
of a Business student I guess.
Academics
Though I have no projects or term papers this semester like Biz & Arts, I've been trying my best to keep up with the lessons cos there really is not much time to go back to previous topics of all my modules, going by the pace of the lecturers and tutors, which is inevitable in Uni.
The thing about being in Engin is that it's so much easier to slack and procrastinate since tutors do not collect tutorials. But that also means we have to face the music when we realize work piling up. Must really have self-discipline!
To signallers flying to Wallaby: good luck, take care, jiayou and enjoy!
I sometimes wonder if I have made the wrong choice.
